Essential Packing Tips & Arena Burgas Security Regulations

← Back to Blog / Към Блога Eurovision Burgas Packing Checklist & Arena Rules

Heading to Arena Burgas for Eurovision 2027? Nothing ruins a festival night faster than having your favorite bag confiscated at the arena gates or freezing on the seaside walk home. Security at the Eurovision Song Contest is rigorous, adhering to strict European Broadcasting Union (EBU) venue safety standards. Here is your definitive guide on what to pack and what to leave at your hotel.

1. Arena Burgas Bag Policy

✅ Allowed Bags: Small Crossbody & Clutches

Only small bags no larger than A4 format (approx. 21 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm) are permitted inside the arena bowl. Clear stadium bags or small belt bags (fanny packs) are recommended for fastest security scanning.

❌ Prohibited Items

  • Backpacks, luggage, and large gym duffels (no large storage lockers are guaranteed outside).
  • Professional cameras with detachable telephoto lenses, audio recording gear, and tripods/selfie sticks.
  • Glass bottles, metal cans, hard thermal flasks, and laser pointers.
  • Pyrotechnics, fireworks, flares, and smoke canisters.

2. Official EBU Flag & Banner Regulations

Eurovision is famous for its sea of waving national flags! To ensure clear sightlines for television cameras and fans behind you, the following rules apply:

  • Allowed Flags: Flags of participating national delegations, member states, and rainbow/Pride flags.
  • Maximum Size: Flags must not exceed 1.2 meters x 0.8 meters.
  • Flagpoles: Only flexible, hollow plastic sticks up to 1 meter in length are permitted. Wooden poles, solid metal sticks, and long extendable selfie poles are strictly forbidden.

3. May Weather in Burgas: What to Wear

May in Burgas is generally warm and sunny, with daytime temperatures hovering around 20°C to 24°C. However, because Burgas is situated directly on the open Black Sea coast, evenings can bring fresh marine breezes dipping to 13°C – 16°C.

  • Layer Up: Wear light t-shirts or Eurovision themed costumes during the day, but carry a light stylish windbreaker or hoodie for late-night returns from the arena.
  • Comfortable Footwear: Between dancing in the standing arena section and strolling along the 7 km Sea Garden promenade, you will easily log 15,000+ steps per day. Wear broken-in sneakers!

4. Essential Tech & Festival Gear

  • Power Bank: External battery packs up to 20,000 mAh are allowed and indispensable for recording unforgettable performances and navigating transit.
  • High-Fidelity Earplugs: Modern arenas feature thunderous bass. High-fidelity earplugs preserve acoustic clarity while protecting your hearing through 4-hour live shows.
  • Offline Tickets & Documents: Always save your digital ticket PDFs to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, as mobile network congestion around 15,000 fans can slow down mobile apps.
